For ages I've both sought and been encouraged to build my own little corner of the web, but as with most decisions in life, I knew I couldn't bring myself to do so until I answered my favorite existential question - why?

While I could create a shrine for things like my bio, work and CV, I knew that if I were to summon the energy to build and maintain my own little portal of the web, it would need to serve a purpose that was a little more practical, and a little less self-promotional.

Given my role as a Professor at the City College of New York, I could easily default to musings related to my industry - advertising and communications - and publish my own articles on topics circling that realm. But I'll be the first to admit that the internet has enough marketing gurus stacking soapboxes in attempts to out-shout one another.

It's almost inevitable that I'll use this space to touch on a number of topics at some point, but as devoted to my area of study as I might be, I knew that wouldn't be enough.

It wasn't until the beginning of 2022 that I embarked on a personal journey that gave me the spark of inspiration I needed to bring my own little web portal to life.

I developed a new habit of listening to audiobooks, and realized would give me a wealth of perspective that I could share with the world.

Over the next several weeks, I'll be releasing lists of my "top" books I read last year, in a range of categories, topics, and configurations.

And the most exciting part - at least to me - is that most of my audiobook recommendations come accessible via the New York Public Library and other major library systems, like the Brooklyn Public Library, and the Queens Public Library).

Enjoy!
