Panel Abstract

This panel will examine a project-based learning experience as a proof of concept for activating public-private partnerships to successfully bridge the divide between classrooms and corporate environments.

The panelists, including faculty and graduates from CCNY’s Undergraduate Advertising and Public Relations (Ad/PR) program, will explore learnings from a semester-long project commissioned by the New York Giants during the Spring 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. This unique classroom opportunity, which included students across a range of levels of seniority in the Ad/PR program, drove high student engagement, and yielded a significant level of growth and led to notable professional opportunities for each student. After completing a semester-long research project, students presented high-level strategic and creative thinking to a team of marketing communications clients from the New York Giants.

Working with the New York Giants presented an opportunity to develop the framework for a turn-key, semester-long, project-based learning experience that can be adapted to serve the needs of a range of for-profit and non-profit organizations in the future.

In this panel, attendees will gain insights into this proof-of-concept experience, hear lessons learned from faculty and students, and participate in an interactive workshop to implement in their discipline and area of study.
